Medium term accommodation i.e., MTA is one of the programs under NDIS by the government to provide better quality of life for individuals with any disabilities. In MTA, the individual is given the funding for the rent of their temporary house while their long-term accommodation gets sorted. As the name suggests, Medium Term Accommodation covers only the rent of the temporary house and no other expenses at all. The MTA is available for 30 to 90 days and is a one-time support since the individual moves to a permanent house before the end of this period.

• While waiting to receive Supported Independent Living (SIL) and move into a permanent house.
• After being discharged from the hospital or care home while your disabilities supports are ready.

In any circumstances, to avail the grant for MTA, it is mandatory to show the proof that you have a long-term house, and help is only needed to cover for the rent of the temporary house.
