Reliance Care and Support now has a male occupational therapist available to complete NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs), Assistive Technology assessments and home modification assessments for SIL and SDA. We travel to regional and rural communities across Western Victoria, including MM3 to MM7 areas, and currently have availability for new participants.

About Our Occupational Therapy Service

Our occupational therapists have substantial experience in paediatric development and disability support. We work with children and adults to build functional skills, improve sensory processing, and increase participation in everyday activities. Our team develops individualised programs covering dressing and hygiene, fine motor skills such as handwriting and fastening clothing, gross motor skills like walking and running, movement and coordination, emotional regulation, transition to school readiness, cognitive skills, social and play skills, sensory skills, attention to tasks, and healthy food options. Community visits are available at schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, and homes throughout the Truganina area.

Appointments are 50 mins. The $130.59 out-of-pocket cost applies with a GP Care Plan. Without one, the full $193.99 fee applies. The gap varies depending on neuro conditions. Call reception for a figure specific to your situation. The standard fee of $155 carries a Medicare rebate of $61.80. Out-of-pocket costs shown apply with a GP Care Plan, or a Mental Health Care Plan for psychology. NDIS participants are funded through their plan instead. See all fees.

Does NDIS cover occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy may be NDIS-funded when the proposed support meets current rules and is included in your plan. Check stated-support conditions and available funding before booking; Capacity Building funding alone does not establish eligibility for every therapy.
What does a paediatric occupational therapist do?
A paediatric OT helps children develop the skills they need for daily life, school, and play. This includes fine motor skills like handwriting, sensory processing, emotional regulation, self-care tasks like dressing and eating, and school readiness. Our OTs work in clinic, at home, and in schools across Melbourne's west.
How do I get an occupational therapy referral for NDIS?
A GP referral is not generally needed for an approved NDIS occupational therapy service. Before booking, confirm that the proposed OT support is included in your plan, its stated-support conditions and the available funding. Medicare referrals have separate eligibility requirements.
What areas do your occupational therapists service?
Our OTs are based at our Truganina clinic and provide community visits across Melbourne's west including Tarneit, Hoppers Crossing, Deer Park, Melton, Point Cook, Werribee, and surrounding suburbs. We visit schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, and homes. For Functional Capacity Assessments, we also travel to regional and rural Western Victoria, including Ballarat, Geelong, Winchelsea and their surrounding areas, and communities classified MM3 to MM7.

Yes. A male occupational therapist is available to complete Functional Capacity Assessments, Assistive Technology assessments and Home and Living assessments, including for participants in regional and rural Western Victoria. What is a Functional Capacity Assessment?
A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is an assessment by an occupational therapist of how a person manages everyday activities such as self-care, mobility, household tasks and community access. The report can be used as supporting evidence for NDIS plan reviews and reassessments, and for SIL, SDA, Assistive Technology and Home and Living requests. The NDIA decides what is funded.
How long is an occupational therapy session?
Initial assessments typically run for 60 minutes. Ongoing therapy sessions are usually 45–60 minutes depending on the individual's needs and NDIS plan goals. We develop individualised programs and review progress regularly.
