Brief introduction of clinician

Your qualifications, relevant skills and experience

Meyya obtained her Bachelors and Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics at Curtin University. She holds a full accredited practising dietitian registration with Dietitians Australia (DA).Her areas of interest include paediatric nutrition and chronic disease management.

Paediatric nutrition
Meyya is passionate about supporting families to create positive mealtimes and early intervention nutrition. She is trained in the AEIOU approach to feeding which is a responsive feeding approach that offers a highly successful method for integrated treatment of infants and young children with mild to complex neurodevelopmental and physiological concerns.

Meyya integrates this approach along with her experience working with a broad spectrum of children in ensuring success with children’s eating habits, interest in food, positive mealtimes, reduced anxiety around new food and achieve adequate growth and development. This essentially widens the range of foods tolerated, ability to enjoy family meals, reduced salt and sugar intake and be at a healthy weight.

Chronic disease management in adults

Meyya has worked with a range of individuals presenting with overweight and obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular concerns, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), food intolerance, eating disorders and other gastrointestinal conditions. As an experienced dietitian, Meyya uses a weight-neutral and lifestyle-inclusive approach to her interventions rather than putting her clients on a diet. She strongly believes in sustainable changes and tailors each and every strategy around an individual’s circumstance and food preference, which allows her to provide the best for her clients to succeed. She accepts Medicare referrals and does in-clinic and Telehealth sessions.

EG. Jasmine got her Masters in Psychological Science and Psychotherapy at Monash University. She is a registered therapist with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
Her areas of interest include Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI). ABA is an intervention in which the principles of
learning theory are applied in a systematic and measurable manner to increase, reduce, maintain, and/or generalise target behaviours. In IBI programs, each child’s strengths and weaknesses are assessed and a comprehensive program is created for the child. Jasmine uses ABA and IBA approach and its techniques to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and children with Intellectual Disability improve their social skills, self-care skills, communication skills, play skills and ability to manage their own behaviour. These techniques help reduce difficult behaviour
    like inattention, aggression and screaming.
As an experienced therapist, Jasmine has been working with individuals with varying
needs from early school age through to adulthood. Jasmine believes in strength-based, family and child inclusive, and recovery-orientated approach to achieve the desired outcome. Her friendly and welcoming manner help her build constructive rapport with her clients to achieve the best result from each session.
