Speech Pathology

Supporting children and adults with communication, speech, language, and swallowing difficulties through personalised assessment and intervention.

About Our Speech Pathology Service

Our speech pathologists provide comprehensive assessment and therapy for a wide range of communication challenges. We cover five key areas: speech (pronouncing sounds correctly), language (speaking and understanding), voice (vocal cord function), fluency (stuttering and cluttering), and literacy (reading and writing). We support children with speech sound disorders, language delays, and stuttering, as well as adults with voice disorders. In addition to clinic-based sessions, we provide community visits at schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, and homes to deliver therapy in familiar environments where skills can be practised in context.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does NDIS fund speech therapy?
Yes. Speech pathology is funded under NDIS Capacity Building supports. If your plan includes Improved Daily Living, you can access speech therapy at Reliance Care and Support. We are a registered NDIS provider in Truganina, and no GP referral is needed for NDIS-funded sessions.
What age can a child start speech therapy?
Children can start speech therapy from as young as 18 months. Early intervention is important for speech and language delays. Our speech pathologists work with toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged children, and adults across Melbourne's west.
Do you provide speech therapy at schools and homes?
Yes. Our speech pathologists provide community visits to schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, and homes throughout Truganina, Tarneit, Hoppers Crossing, Deer Park, Melton, and surrounding areas. Therapy in familiar environments helps children practise skills in context.
What is the difference between speech therapy and speech pathology?
Speech therapy and speech pathology refer to the same profession in Australia. A speech pathologist (also called a speech therapist) assesses and treats communication difficulties including speech sounds, language, voice, fluency, and literacy, as well as feeding and swallowing difficulties.
How do I get a speech therapy referral near me?
For NDIS-funded speech therapy, you can self-refer directly to our Truganina clinic. For Medicare-funded sessions, ask your GP for a referral under a Chronic Disease Management Plan. Private patients can also book directly without a referral.
